Milkweed is the AMA charting debut album from Americana duo Howard & Skye.
Recent Arkansas River Valley transplants from Austin, Texas, Jonathan Howard and Blueflower Skye completed their eleven-track CD in the spring of 2016. Since its release in June of that year, Milkweed has enjoyed considerable airplay and welcoming reviews in Europe and North America, including charting on the AMA charts from October 2016 through February of 2017.
Howard & Skye's sound is a unique blend of several genres, but mostly resounds of blues, country and folk. Critics have made note of this diversity in their music and songwriting styles through comparisons to a spectrum of artists such as JJ Cale, Melanie, Townes van Zandt, David Olney, Dylan, Joan Baez, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Gordon Lightfoot.

Our sincerest thanks to the following stations and shows for adds and airplay of our Milkweed album:
Unconventional in nature, a traveler, composer and performer through the years, singer/songwriter Jonathan Howard has been influenced by the people, places and music he has encountered; and with a classical violinist for a grandmother, as well as early exposure to the music of Shel Silverstein, John Prine, Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson and Dr. Hook, it is no wonder that Jonathan came to follow a path of musical diversity.
Jonathan’s lyrics, though often somber or reflective, are skillfully counterbalanced with musical accompaniment that runs the gamut from intricate and mellow through upbeat and raucous. Drawing from his own personal observation, he presents his perceptions musically for the listener to interpret as they see fit.
Resounding with a melodic blend of country, folk, blues and pop, Blueflower Skye's songs draw listeners in with stories of loss and personal strife. Her words, conveyed through veils of metaphor and symbolism, ring with a vulnerable sentiment.
Born in Japan, Skye's long, meandering path towards songwriting consisted of learning English as a young girl in Biloxi, Mississippi, reading voraciously, learning piano and percussion, then working in technical writing and art. Finally, a singer-songwriter circle in San Marcos, Texas sparked her interest in writing music, and two years later Skye had a collection of songs and co-writes with Jonathan Howard for their Howard & Skye album Milkweed.
The duo are currently recording tracks for their next Howard & Skye album as well as for their upcoming individual solo EPs.
