Jonathan Howard and Blueflower Skye formed "Howard & Skye" in Austin, Texas in 2014, performing live throughout the area while collaborating on songwriting projects and working on their debut CD Milkweed.
After the release of Milkweed, the duo established new roots in the River Valley region of Arkansas, focusing on building a wider audience in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. In 2018, Howard & Skye were accepted into the Arkansas Arts Council's Arts on Tour Roster and subsequently the Mid-Atlantic Arts Alliance.
Both songwriters believe in nurturing the music community by supporting fellow artists. In October 2018, Howard & Skye had the opportunity to host nine songwriters at their "HandS" Private Showcase at the Folk Alliance Region Midwest Music Conference, and they continue to seek and/or invent ways to highlight original music.
Milkweed is the AMA charting debut album from Americana duo Howard & Skye.
Howard & Skye's sound is a unique blend of several genres, but mostly resounds of blues, country and folk. Critics have made note of this diversity in their music and songwriting styles through comparisons to a spectrum of artists such as JJ Cale, Melanie, Townes van Zandt, David Olney, Dylan, Joan Baez, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Gordon Lightfoot.
Jonathan Howard and Blueflower Skye self-produced their eleven-track CD in the spring of 2016. Since its release in June of that year, Milkweed has enjoyed considerable airplay and welcoming reviews in Europe and North America, including charting on the AMA charts from October 2016 through February of 2017.
